Elaine Evans Godfrey

Elaine Evans Godfrey, age 66, of Rome, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at her residence.

Elaine was born April 24, 1951 to the late Charles and Irene Evans. Elaine was a private sitter for a number of years. Elaine Godfrey was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jeff Evans and Mac Busby; two sisters, Jeannie Smith and Martha Ann Allen.

Survivors include a daughter, April Wright, and her husband, Sherman, of Rome; a son, Jason Godfrey, and his wife, Annie, of Rome; five grandchildren, Brendan Godfrey, Mattie Godfrey, Jake Godfrey, Kaleb Wright, and Logan Wright, all of Rome; three brothers, Tracy Evans, David Busby, Danny Evans; three sisters, Debbie Hughes, Renee Watters, and Faye Casey. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home with the Rev. Herman L. Stamey officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, from 6 until 8 p.m.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jason Godfrey, Brendan Godfrey, Sherman Wright, Kaleb Wright, Brandon Smith, and Tommy Allen. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
