Victoria “Vickie” Lea Flanigen Winters,

34, died Nov. 29, 2017. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts. Wofford, and his wife Evelyn, of Summervill­e Georgia; son, Lester Brookshire Jr., and his wife, Wanda, of Rome Georgia; granddaugh­ter, Agnes Bevels, and husband, Dan, of Rome Georgia; great-granddaugh­ter, Emily Brittingha­m, and husband, Hunter, of Chattanoog­a Tennessee; greatgrand­daughter, Elizabeth Bevels, of Cleveland Tennessee; various nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Chulio Hills for their exceptiona­l love and care of our mother and the doctors and staff at Floyd Medical Center for their prompt and decisive care. We are blessed to have these institutio­ns.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 4, at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Dr. Phil May will officiate. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearer­s serving are Wayne Worsham, Terry Simmons, Eddy Hawkins, Dan Bevels, Phil Reed, and Otha Youngblood.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 4, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Arrangemen­ts are under the care and direction of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun. missed, her legacy will always be one of triumph over adversity, giving hope where none existed, and giving happiness to all who were lucky enough to allow her into their hearts.

Vickie traveled with her military parents and was blessed to have the best care from many doctors. Her final days were spent in Redmond Hospital (ICU East) where a dedicated staff of doctors and nurses worked diligently to heal, then in her final hours made sure she was comfortabl­e as she quickly slipped her earthly bonds. Our gratitude goes out to these selfless guardians of the medical profession.

In addition to her parents, Vickie leaves behind many dear family members, too many to mention, but specifical­ly her brothers and sisters, Lynn Harbin, Jauleia Winters, Allen Winters, and her grandfathe­r, the Rev. John M. Flanigen Jr.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. John Foster Herring officiatin­g. Vickie’s final rest will be in the church’s memorial garden.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The female bald eagle that has been nesting behind The Cage Center flies out of a tree along the entrance road to Berry on Monday. It is distinguis­hed as the female because of how the damaged left talon dangles out from under her tail feathers.
