Three Rivers Swim Club sending 7 to state

A group of local swimmers will be competing against some of the best youth swimmers in the state this weekend.

Seven members of the Three Rivers Swim Club will take to the pool at Georgia Tech beginning Friday for the Georgia Senior State Short Course Championsh­ips.

Mason Hunter, Samson Mumber, Viola Hasko, A.J. Williams Jr., Kent Schirmache­r, Will Davis and Anna Waguespack are qualified in several events at the prelim/final format meet.

Hunter, 17, is qualified in the 100-yard backstroke, 100 breaststro­ke, 200 breaststro­ke, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 individual medley and 200 individual medley.

A University of Michigan commit, Hunter got within a second of his personal best in the 100 breaststro­ke last week at Senior Nationals where he came in 34th. He is a three-time state champion in the breaststro­ke events and a state finalist in the freestyle and IM events.

Mumber, 16, is qualified in the 100 backstroke and

200 backstroke, the 100 butterfly, and all three individual freestyle events. Hasko, 16, is qualified in the 100 breaststro­ke and 200 breaststro­ke.

Williams, 16, is qualified in the 100 breaststro­ke, 200 breaststro­ke and the 50 freestyle. Schirmache­r, 17, is qualified in the 100 breaststro­ke.

Mumber and Williams will compete in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, and in the 200 and 400 medley relays, which are timed final events.
