Report: Police follow footprints in snow
One man is arrested with stolen gun parts. Police are searching for two more.
A Rome man is facing charges in the theft of guns and parts from Carter Machinery after police tracked footprints in the snow.
According to Floyd County Jail and Rome Police Department reports:
Trevon Cornell Lee, 18, of 502 Avenue A, is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property.
Lee said two other men committed the Friday night burglary and gave him the items to hide, so the investigation is continuing.
Police were called to the machinery shop at 528½ Fifth Ave. after someone broke into the building and stole three guns, some gun parts, machinery and tools. Shoe prints and fingerprints were found in the shop.
While waiting for a fingerprint team to arrive, an officer followed the footprints to Lee’s address.
He knocked on the door, was invited in and saw some of the stolen items in plain sight.
36, of 122 Mitchell St., was in a car police had issued a lookout for when she was found in a ditch at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on New Rosedale Road at Carpenter Road.
She was disoriented and failed field sobriety tests.
England is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and the misdemeanors possession of drug-related objects, driving under the influence of drugs and failure to maintain a lane.
