Shorter poetry students’ work to be in anthology
Five Shorter University students are among the 120 up-and-coming poets whose work will appear in the forthcoming anthology “Georgia’s Best Emerging Poets,” which was compiled by Z Publishing.
The work covers “a wide array of topics ranging from love and heartbreak, family and friendship, the inherent beauty of nature, and so much more.”
Shorter students whose work was selected are Hannah Cauthen, of Villa Rica; Meredith Howard, of Acworth; Anna Lundy, of Cedartown; Kristin Towe, of Silver Creek; and Alayna Welker, of Douglasville.
Cauthen is a senior majoring in English. Her selected poem was titled “Lilacious Loss.”
Howard graduated from Shorter in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a minor in Professional Writing. She is now an admissions counselor for the university. Her selected poem was titled “Fall, for Me.”
Lundy is a sophomore English major and Dance minor at Shorter. Her selected poem was titled “Dreamers.”
Towe, a senior English Education major, wrote the selected poem “Darling Birdsong.”
