RHS students have many talents
The Rome High School football team isn’t the only product of excellence coming out of Rome High School. My wife and I attended the RHS drama department’s presentation of “A Fairy Tale Christmas Carol” on Saturday evening, and it was excellent. These neophyte actors and actresses may not have their names in lights, but they might one day. The acting was superb and reflected the hard work and talents of the drama students and the a capella group. In fact, every drama, band or choral production we have attended at RHS has been excellent. There are many avenues of excellence at RHS where a student can participate and experience their gifts and talents.
Kudos to Rome High School for the diversity of programs that are offered to students and the quality of their endeavors.
MGreg Garrett Rome embers of the community have described the current condition as a school in free fall, with declining enrollment, financial deficiency, Jim Powell of Young Harris lacking leadership and an invisible Board of Trustees.
Leaders of the community who have been supportive of the school are speaking out because of regard for the welfare of the institution. Assuming that description is correct, is the Rev. (Nelson) Price questioning (whether) leaders in the community are not concerned for the institution’s welfare?
Rome needs Shorter? An institution whose current condition is in free fall?
Is Price excusing himself as former chairman of the Board of Trustees as not being responsible to hold in trust?
Memory tells me Shorter College was a thriving institution for decades and decades. William E. Carroll
