SHORTER BASKETBALL TOYS FOR TOTS — The Shorter men’s and women’s basketball teams will host an evening of holiday giving today when they host Clark Atlanta at the Winthrop-King Centre. The women’s game will start at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game. The teams will collect children’s toys and gifts for Toys for Tots, with each person bringing an item getting in for free. There will also be T-shirt giveaways.

TENNIS BLOCK PARTY — The Rome Tennis Center at Berry College is presenting a community tennis block party Dec. 17 from 2-4 p.m. at the facility on the Armuchee Connector. The event is free and no registrati­on is required. Scheduled activities include a mini-tournament, serve speed gun court, racquet demo and kids carnival. YOUTH BASKETBALL REFEREES — RomeFloyd Parks and Recreation is taking applicatio­ns for youth basketball referees for the 2018 youth basketball season at the administra­tive offices at 1 Shorter Ave. The basketball season runs from Jan. 2 through Feb. 15 with games during the week starting at 5:45 p.m. and Saturday games starting at 10 a.m. No special experience is necessary but a general knowledge of the game is necessary.
