Chamber develops legislative priorities
The Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce has developed a series of legislative priorities for the 2018 session of the Georgia General Assembly. Those priorities fall into the broad categories of transportation, economic development, education, taxes, community development and water.
At the top of the list of transportation priorities, as it has been for many years, is funding for the Rome-Cartersville Economic Development Corridor, which used to be known simply as the 411 Connector to I-75. The Chamber is also asking the state to expedite the work on remaining sections of the Rome By-pass from US 27 around to Georgia 101 and from Georgia 101 around to U.S. 411 on the east side of the city.
The economic development priorities are topped by full funding for the Georgia Quickstart program which has been instrumental in training Associate Editor DWalker@RN-T.com 706-290-5272

The education list includes a restoration of full formula funding for everything from Pre-K through the university system and technical college system.
The community development category is headed by a call for the transfer of the Northwest Georgia Regional Hospital property in West Rome to local control and continued funding of the Community Development
