Rome ServiceMaster continues to expand

Twins Larry and Barry Alford are continuing to expand their ServiceMaster by Twins franchise, based in Rome, into both the Atlanta and Chattanooga markets.

The Alford’s have picked up the franchise inside the perimeter of Atlanta and have added both Chattanooga and Cleveland Tennessee to the list of communities they serve.

The company also serves Cartersville, Douglasville, Gainesville and Augusta markets in Georgia. They also have the Huntsville market in Alabama as well as both the Knoxville and Nashville markets in Tennessee,

The addition of the territories in the major markets will mean the addition of jobs. “This year we have already added 14 new positions in the company. With these two acquisitions there will be an additional 16-20 new positions,” said Larry Alford.

The company headquarters will remain at 1 Hillindale Drive in Rome.

Students encouraged to submit wildlife posters

Teachers and students across the state are encouraged to help promote Georgia wildlife by entering the 28th annual Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest.

The competition, open to grades K-5, seeks to create greater awareness and appreciation of Georgia’s diverse and increasingly threatened nongame wildlife and their habitats.

This contest is sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the State Botanical Garden of Georgia and The Environmental Resources Network (TERN), friends group of DNR’s Nongame Conservation Section. The theme for this year is “Nature at Night.” The topic highlights the various adaptive behaviors of wildlife as well as their interactions with plants.

The deadline for schools to submit state-level entries is April 13, 2018.

The top 12 state-level winners’ artwork will be showcased at the State Botanical Garden in Athens May 8-16.
