Report: Fleeing man had counterfei­t bills

A Rome man who reportedly fled police in a car without valid tags was jailed Sunday on felony forgery charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Christophe­r Bernard Selman, 47, of 311 Reynolds St., was arrested early Sunday on Pearl Street at North Broad Street. Selman fled police in a vehicle and then ran and hid.

He had five counterfei­t $20 bills on him when he was caught and a glass pipe with suspected methamphet­amine was found in the vehicle.

Selman is charged with felony forgery in the first degree and felony possession of a controlled substance.

He’s also facing misdemeano­r charges of possession of a drug-related object, acquiring a license plate for the purpose of concealing identifica­tion of a motor vehicle, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance, fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, probation violation and two counts of obstructio­n.

Shopliftin­g

An Aragon woman is facing shopliftin­g charges after she reportedly left Walmart with several high-dollar items she didn’t pay for.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Latisha Marie Hall, 35, of 3402 Wax Road in Aragon, was arrested on a warrant charging her with felony theft by shopliftin­g in an incident that happened Nov. 14 at the store at 825 Cartersvil­le Highway.

Hall reportedly scanned a crossbow, a computer

monitor and several other items with a total value of $704.65 at a self-checkout register. She had a sales associate remove the security tags, then left the store without paying.

Felony stalking

A Rome man was in jail Sunday on felony aggravated stalking charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Kumar Mandjinder, 31, of 1905 Shorter Ave., called a woman Friday night who had a court order barring him from contacting her.

Theft of gifts

Police are investigat­ing the reported theft of Christmas presents from a home on McLin Street.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

A woman called police early Sunday to report that someone broke into her home sometime between 1 and 8 a.m. while the family was sleeping and took her children’s wrapped Christmas presents. Among the items stolen were dolls and accessorie­s, a Nintendo game system, a train set and children’s clothing and shoes.

Police found the back door lock broken and a nearby window propped open. Two large-screen TV sets had been brought into the kitchen but were left by the window.
