Polk man charged with threatenin­g officers

A Polk County man was arrested in Rome early Thursday morning after allegedly resisting officers, then making threats against them at a location in North Rome.

According to Floyd county Jail reports:

Roderick Dejuan Stocks, 39, of 222 Gordon St. in Rockmart, was approached by police at the corner of Harvey Street and Copeland Avenue in North Rome just before 3 a.m. Thursday.

He resisted an officer, refused to give his name and date of birth and made threats against the two city police patrol officers.

Stocks was charged with three counts of felony terroristi­c threats and misdemeano­rs for obstructio­n, disorderly conduct and simple assault.

Polk man charged with Oct. burglary of tools from barn

Witnesses helped authoritie­s identify a suspect in the burglary of a barn on Morris Road in southern Floyd County.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Billy Ray Williams Jr., 32, of 180 Lowery Road, Aragon, was picked up from the Polk County Jail for a burglary that occurred at a barn on Morris Road on Oct. 11.

Witnesses reported seeing Williams walk to the barn with a cardboard box in his hand. More than $2,200 worth of tools and equipment were missing the next day.

Police: Man choked, struck woman during argument

A Rome man has been jailed after a brawl during which he allegedly choked a woman to the point of the woman fearing for her life.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kenneth Lamar Phillips, 33, of 40 Albert St., choked and punched a woman during an argument late Wednesday night.

Phillips was charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeano­r battery.

Man charged with cocaine possession, failure to appear

A Rome man was picked up Wednesday night on a cocaine possession charge in North Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Michael Darnell Daise, 30, of 2018 N. Broad St., was arrested near the intersecti­on of Calhoun Avenue and Wade Street around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police found cocaine inside his right jacket pocket.

Daise was also charged with two misdemeano­r counts of failure to appear.

Rome man charged with false imprisonme­nt, threats

A 19-year-old Rome man was being held on $7,900 bond on terroristi­c threats and false imprisonme­nt charges Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Marcus Lee Brown, of 11 Fernwood Drive, was arrested Wednesday on Rooney Road and also charged with unlawful conduct during a 911 call and misdemeano­r battery.

Jewelry, electronic­s, guns taken from West Rome home

Police are investigat­ing the theft of more than $8,000 worth of items during a break-in at a Mountain Chase Road home.

According to Rome Police Department reports:

The resident told police that he came home from work Wednesday evening to find the window on the back porch smashed and several areas inside the house trashed.

Missing were about $5,400 in jewelry, $1,550 in electronic­s and firearms and other items making a total value of $8,050. Diane Wagner, staff writer
