Husband charged with murder
Police report 57-year-old Clarence McCluskey shot and killed 54-year-old Lisa McCluskey on Friday night.
A 57-year-old man is charged with shooting and killing his wife during a fight at their home on Bert Road.
Floyd County Police responded to a shot fired call just before 10 p.m. on Friday at 347 Bert Road where 54-yearold Lisa McCluskey was found lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to her head.
Authorities arrested Clarence McCluskey, 57, who lived at the residence on a felony murder charge.
First responders found the woman in the kitchen area with a wound to the head. Floyd County Police Department Investigator Charles Miller said when he arrived on the scene emergency personnel were attempting life-saving measures and took the woman to Floyd Medical Center where she was pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Brenton Whatley.
Clarence McCluskey was taken into custody at the residence. Miller said the situation was apparently a domestic issue and that it was obvious that the Clarence McCluskey had been drinking.
“Alcohol was a factor,” Miller said. “He was pretty drunk.”
Miller said a .20-gauge shotgun with a loaded shell was found lying near the victim.
A short time later, police recovered a .25 caliber handgun that is believed to have been the weapon he shot her with. A spent shell cartridge, which apparently did not eject from the handgun, was still inside the weapon.
Clarence McCluskey is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond on a felony murder charge.
