Blood Assurance is requesting blood donations at local donor centers or bloodmobil­e drives. There is less than a one day supply of O negative blood and the community is asked to donate to help guarantee blood is available for hospital patients. Donors must be at least 18 years old or 16 years old with parental consent, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids, avoid caffeine and eat a meal that is rich in iron prior to donating. Penson requests that veterans of all military branches of service be sure their DD214 discharge is recorded at the courthouse. Veterans may record their DD-214 in Floyd County in addition to their hometown, county or state. Bring a DD-214 to the Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, 3 Government Plaza, Suite 101, to have it recorded for Floyd County. This is a free service for all veterans.
