Chase from Alabama ends in Coosa
A 28-year-old flees down Alabama Highway near 100 mph before crashing.
A motorist from the metropolitan Atlanta area is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond after leading Cherokee County, Alabama, officers on a chase that ended after the driver rammed through a chain link fence on property off Mays Bridge Road on Thursday evening.
According to Floyd County Police reports:
Quantez Johnson, 28, of Ellenwood, was being pursued by Cherokee County, Alabama, authorities and fled into Floyd County, speeding near 100 miles per hour toward Rome on Alabama Highway. Johnson made a right turn onto Mays Bridge Road and ended up driving through a locked gate and fence at the dead end near the International Paper property.
Johnson was brought to the Floyd County Jail to face felony counts of criminal damage to property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Cherokee County deputies found a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun in the vehicle.
It was not immediately clear what Johnson was wanted for in Cherokee County.
