MLK EVENTS

TODAY

The Celebration will begin this evening with a talent and fashion show. The free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the City Auditorium.

SATURDAY

The annual Prayer Breakfast will be Saturday morning at the Lovejoy Baptist Church Joy Life Center. The breakfast will start at 9 a.m. The speaker for the morning will be Rome High Principal Eric Holland. Tickets have been pre-sold out.

SUNDAY

Sunday’s Ecumenical

Services will be at Thankful Baptist Church, 935 Spider Webb Drive, beginning at 5 p.m. The speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Darrell D. Elligan, pastor of The True Light Baptist Church, Atlanta.

MONDAY

Monday will begin with the annual Freedom March. Participants are asked to assemble at 11 a.m. at the corner of Broad and First Avenue. The march will begin at 11:30 a.m. and proceed to the City Auditorium where the celebration will continue with the noonday MLK Holiday Celebration. The speaker will be Cassandra Wheeler, Georgia Power regional director. Following the noon program, the celebration will culminate with a free lunch at the Civic Center.
