Police: Rome man had drugs in car

A Rome man was in jail without bond Thursday after a traffic stop reportedly led to the discovery of drugs in his car.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Gary Don Holmes, 45, of 2615 Garden Lakes Blvd., was arrested Wednesday afternoon on Donahoo Road at Reeceburg Road. He was stopped for an expired tag and cracked windshield and a search of his car turned up unspecifie­d drugs.

Holmes is facing a felony charge of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. He’s also charged with the misdemeano­rs possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, no insurance, cracked windshield, expired tag and driving on a suspended license.

He’s also being held on a probation violation.
