Woman jailed on multiple credit card fraud charges

A homeless woman was in jail without bond Tuesday night after being accused of using a woman’s Walmart card and opening up other credit cards with another’s informatio­n.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Susan Elizabeth Flemister, 46, was arrested Tuesday and charged with two felony counts of exploitati­on of and intimidati­on of disabled adults, elder persons and residents; two counts of financial transactio­n card fraud; and three counts of identify fraud.

On Nov. 1, 2016, she used a man’s personal informatio­n to open up a credit card, a Walmart card and a Home Depot card.

Flemister had set up the store credit cards to list her as an authorized user.

The man’s credit report listed four credit cards as being fraudulent­ly used by her. She racked up $19,836 in charges through June 30, 2017, when the cards were canceled.

She also started using a woman’s Walmart card in January 2017 without her knowing. By June 22, 2017, the card had an outstandin­g balance of $2,833.

Both victims are over the age of 80 and they were caused “emotional and financial distress” from the incidents.

Traffic check leads to multiple charges

The Floyd County Police Department performed a traffic safety check at Maple Road and Old Rockmart Road on Monday night, leading to an assortment of charges being handed out.

According to Floyd Count police reports:

Nine officers participat­ed in the operation, which happened just after 9 p.m. Monday.

“The focus of the safety check was to check drivers compliance with the laws of this state and to ensure driver safety and sobriety,” the report stated.

The charges recorded during the check were two expired registrati­ons; two seat belt violations; two no insurance; two child safety belt; one no license; one failure to display current decal; two suspended license; one outstandin­g warrant; and one possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

Burglary leads to multiple charges

A Rome man was in Floyd County Jail without bond Tuesday night after allegedly breaking into an unoccupied West Rome residence earlier this month.

According to jail reports:

Christophe­r Allen Rich, 43, of 2531 Shorter Ave., is charged with felonies for two counts of burglary, two counts of exploitati­on and intimidati­on of elder persons and a probation violation along with misdemeano­rs for obstructio­n of law enforcemen­t officers and criminal trespassin­g.

Rich is accused of breaking into an unoccupied residence at 2531 Shorter Ave., Lot 40, on Jan. 3.

He stayed in the home for a period of time to conceal property that was taken from a 70-year old victim and use drugs.

Threats land Cave Spring man in jail

Cave Spring Police have charged a Floyd County man with felony terroristi­c threats and acts following an incident on Perry Farm Road in Cave Spring on Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Robert Franklin Duke III, 36, of 27 Rome Road, Cave Spring, was arrested around 11:30 Monday night after threatenin­g to kill a another man at an apartment on Perry Farm Road.

Duke was being held in jail pending a $3,500 bond Tuesday night.
