Rome seeks GDOT money to repave roads
The city of Rome is requesting state funds to resurface all or part of 10 roads this year through the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant program.
Public Works Director Chris Jenkins said he expects to get confirmation from the Georgia Department of Transportation by early February. The total value of the project is $590,000 and would cover nearly four miles of pavement.
“We’d get $441,000 from GDOT,” Jenkins told members of the city’s public works and traffic committee. “We have to provide at least 30 percent for a local match but we can do that through milling, in-kind labor.”
The priciest project on the list is Riverbend Drive: $145,000 to do the 0.62 miles between East Second Avenue and Turner McCall Boulevard.
Another high-dollar proposal is Darlington Drive from Cave Spring Street to Cedar Avenue at $100,000. The rest range in cost from $12,000 to $58,000:
West Third Street from East Second Avenue to North Fifth Avenue Vineland Circle Lenox Circle North Fifth Avenue from Turner McCall Boulevard to the bridge
Ridge Haven Drive from Huffaker Road to Benton Drive
East Eighth Street from Turner McCall to Collinwood Road
East Ninth Street from Turner McCall to Collinwood Road Collinwood Road Echota Circle from Billy Pyle Road to Coosawattee Avenue
