Man in critical condition after wreck on Cave Spring Road

-

An Alabama man who was injured in a two-vehicle wreck was in critical condition at Floyd Medical Center on Tuesday night, according to hospital spokesman Dan Bevels.

According to Floyd County police reports:

Glenn H. Deville, 60, of 5420 County Road 22, Centre, Alabama, was seriously injured in the early Tuesday morning wreck. He had been heading north on Cave Spring Road, just south of Morgan Dairy Road, just after 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. He lost control of the vehicle and it spun before coming to a stop partially off the east side of the road.

Randy Gaylor, 49, of 1328 Alexander Road, Boaz, Alabama, was driving behind Deville in a tractor-trailer when Deville backed the Celica back into the road, in front of Gaylor.

In trying to avoid hitting the Celica, Gaylor veered the tractor-trailer partially into the southbound lanes. However, he was unable to avoid hitting the Celica, which was smashed into on the right-rear quarter panel.

The impact sent the Celica into the ditch on the east side of the road. The tractor-trailer traveled along the west side shoulder before getting back on the road at the driveway of Fabco Fabrications Inc. at 5592 Cave Spring Road.

Redmond Regional Medical Center EMS personnel drove Deville to FMC, arriving at 3:38 a.m.

Gaylor wasn’t injured in the wreck. The passenger in the tractor-trailer, Tiffany Gaylor, 36, of 1328 Alexander Road, Boaz, Alabama, also had no injuries.
