The Northwest Georgia Woodturning Club will meet today at 6 p.m. at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. The pro demonstrator will be Mark Sillay. The public is invited.

CrossFit UCS (Unity Christian School) will host the sixth annual Three Rivers Throwdown on Saturday inside the Unity Christian School gym. The first workout will begin at 8:30 a.m. Last year over 50 teams of four from around the region participated. This is a fundraiser the CrossFit, located inside the school, does for the athletics department every year. The public is invited.

The 2018 Hot Stove Gathering fundraiser for local charities will be held at the Forum River Center on Jan. 29 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Scheduled guests include Rome Braves manager Rocket Wheeler, hitting coach Bobby Moore, pitching coach Dan Meyer, new trainer Vic Scarpone, new Rome Braves General Manager Jim Bishop, Atlanta Braves Manager Brian Snitker, Atlanta Braves Assistant Director of Player Development Jonathan Schuerholz, Minor League Administration Manager Ron Knight, Director of Scouting Brian Bridges and former Rome Braves player Braeden Schlehuber. Activities include all-you-can-eat food, a question-and-answer opportunity, an autograph session and a silent auction of sports memorabilia. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door for adults; $10 in advance, $12 at the door for children; and $25 in advance, $30 at the door for VIP passes. Tickets are available at the State Mutual Stadium ticket office, through members of the Rome High School baseball team or online at RomeBraves.com. Proceeds will benefit local charities.
The Berry College Moon Gallery is presenting “Journals and Reading Lists” by Travis Head through Feb. 8. The solo exhibit is autobiographical and uses drawing that is mediated by technology and entertainment. The Moon Gallery is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The Three Rivers Singers present “Valentunes for Valentines VI: What’s Old Is New Again” on Feb. 11 at 4 p.m. in the auditorium at Heritage Hall, 415 E. Third Ave. Music director Len Willingham will conduct and Joan Hill will accompany. Selections include songs by George Gershwin, Billy Joel, Duke Ellington, Rogers and Hart, Elvis Presley and others. Rome’s Own Gospel Choir and Northwest Georgia Winds will perform a concert titled “Lift Every Voice” at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 at the Rome City Auditorium. Admission is free.
