3 arrested on Tolbert St. on weapon, drug charges
A search warrant raid also seizes marijuana packaged for sale, digital scales and more than 300 Xanax pills.
Rome police have arrested three people following an investigation at a home on Tolbert Street.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Devon Jaleel Booker, 23, of 2963 Morton Bend Road; Jail Michelle Henderson, 37, of 5980 County Road 14, Piedmont, Alabama; and Naderricus Sha’Quan Reed, 22, of 225 North Ave., were all arrested Friday morning at 215A Tolbert St.
Police armed with a search warrant raided the home and recovered more than an ounce of marijuana packaged for distribution along with more than 300 Xanax pills, digital scales and a pistol.
All three were charged with felonies for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and a misdemeanor for possession of drug-related objects.
All three are being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond.
Traffic stop leads to drug arrest
A Rome man was stopped on Morrison Campground Road on Friday for a seat belt violation ended up going to jail on a felony drug charge.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Thomas Edward Lyda II, 25, of 372 Fred Kelly Road, was stopped for the seat belt violation around 12:15 Friday morning. County police discovered that he was also driving without insurance and was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine.
Lyda, who was being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond Friday night, was charged with felony possession of meth and misdemeanors for the seat belt violation and no proof of insurance.
Man charged with assault and battery
A Rome man has been jailed after an investigation into an altercation at a home in the Coosa community earlier this month.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Jesse Willard Brooks, 34, of 172 S. Avery Road, was arrested Thursday night on a warrant charging him with felony aggravated assault for an attack against a woman on Jan. 5, just after 5 p.m. Brooks allegedly choked the woman to the point of leaving marks on her neck that evening. He also struck her in the face, chipping a tooth and causing an eye injury.
Brooks struck a second victim causing a shoulder injury,
Brooks was charged with felony false imprisonment for intimidating a woman, preventing her talking with 911 dispatchers or answering the door when police arrived.
Charges against Brooks also include a felony criminal damage to property and misdemeanors for battery, simple battery and hindering a 911 call.
Brooks is being held in the Floyd County Jail without bond.
