CARTERSVILLE — The rerouting of Cass-White Road took another step from plans to reality at County Commissioner Steve Taylor’s called public meeting Wednesday.

“This is the final property agreement between the county and CSX railroad that we needed before beginning construction on Phase 1 of the Cass-White Road project,” said Tom Sills, Bartow County Transportation Planner.

“The agreement allows us to cross their right of way to build a bridge over the tracks and to take out an existing intersection.”

The first phase involves rerouting the portion of Cass White Road from Cass High School to U.S. 411.

Sills said bids will probably be taken in late spring, and the project is expected to take about 24 months to complete.
