‘Freedom Fighter Bandit’ arrested

-

ATLANTA — Federal authorities say a 25-yearold woman dubbed the “Freedom Fighter Bandit” who’s wanted for a string of Georgia bank robberies has been arrested in Tennessee.

The FBI said in a news release Monday that Nilsa Marie Urena was apprehended Saturday shortly after robbing a Nashvillearea credit union branch. It was not immediately known if Urena had an attorney to represent her.

The FBI says Urena is suspected in at least eight bank robberies in Georgia since October. It says Urena is called the “Freedom Fighter Bandit” because she says she’s robbing banks for a cause.

An earlier FBI news release says she was suspected in a Jan. 25 robbery at Hamilton State Bank in Dallas, Georgia. The suspect said she had a bomb and ordered employees not to call police.

GBI: Man killed baby, woman, himself

BYROMVILLE — Authorities say a Georgia man used a rifle to kill a woman and a toddler before fatally shooting himself.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released its findings in the Jan. 25 slayings Monday in rural Dooly County.

News outlets report investigators found 47-yearold Priscilla Adams and 17-month-old Jashun Ingram dead the woman’s front yard in tiny Byromville. A neighbor, 60-yearold Willie Merrell, was found dead nearby with a .30-caliber rifle nearby.

GBI agent J.T. Ricketson told a news conference evidence shows all gunshots in the slayings were fired from Merrell’s rifle.
