Teri Lynn Farmer
Teri Lynn Farmer, age 56, of Rome, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, in a local hospital.
Teri was born March 7, 1961 in Floyd County, a daughter of Helen Baker Farmer and the late J.L. Farmer. She was employed for many years with Coosa Valley Mental Health. Teri was an avid animal lover.
Survivors include her mother, Helen Baker Farmer; brothers, Jeff (Connie) Farmer, Gary (Julia) Farmer; nephew, Jeffery Farmer; nieces, Trista Farmer, Erin Farmer, and Emily Farmer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Billy Rabren officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour on Saturday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, Ga. 30165

Orin Kell
Orin Kell, a native Roman, died in Rome on Feb. 3, 2018 at age 87.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Norma, and one daughter, Karen. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Nancy and Kathleen.
After three years in the Marines, Orin joined Southern Railway (now Norfolk Southern) and rose to Director of Passenger Sales and Service in Atlanta. He was the final director of the famous Southern Crescent before that passenger train was ceded to Amtrak. Orin then transferred to freight operations and helped to computerize rail yards throughout the South. After 36 years with Norfolk Southern, he retired to Summerville and later to Rome. He enjoyed flying and was a major in the Civil Air Patrol. Orin was very active in Beech Creek United Methodist Church in Rome, where he and Norma often sang duets.
Orin was the son of John Asbury Kell and Rosa Sapp Kell, who had fourteen children, but Orin’s only surviving sibling is Virginia Lawrence Franklin, of Columbia, S.C. The Kell siblings who predeceased Orin were Edith Ellison, Ellen Ritch, Grace Kell, Eleanor Kerce, Wilma Cleveland, Vanita Surles, Pearl Peavy Vonderhaar, Gerry Kell, Gordon Kell, Preston Kell, Alvin Kell, and Wesley Kell. The Good Shepherd Funeral Home laid Orin to rest in Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta with Dr. David McKenzie officiating.

Ellis Franklin Land Sr., age 61, of Rome, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Swinford officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. Helen Louise Satcher
Mrs. Helen Louise Satcher, age 84, of Taylorsville, Ga., passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Cartersville Medical Center.
Mrs. Satcher was born in Brewster, Ala. on April 8, 1933, daughter of the late James Forrest Woods Sr. and the late Erma Elizabeth Shumate Woods. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Andrew Woods and James Forrest Woods Jr. Prior to her retirement she was employed with Big Star Food Stores here in Rome for over 30 years. She was an accomplished artist and Gospel singer, singing with her family at area churches for many years. Mrs. Satcher was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Satcher Jr., to whom she was married on July 15, 1950; two daughters, Sherri Erwin, and her husband, Harold, Aragon, and Melissa Littlefield, and her husband, Perry, Taylorsville; three sons, Ron Satcher, and his wife, Pallie, Aragon, Steave Satcher, Taylorsville, and Tim Satcher, Rome; a sister, Margaret Gentry, Cartersville; a brother, Larry Woods, Cartersville; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Harris and the Rev. Rob Miller officiating. Private interment will follow later in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
