The Heart of the Community Foundation will host Loving Hearts Move, a community walk-cycle-paddle event today at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Green. The event is free, but donations will be accepted to support heartrelat­ed projects in the local community. The walk route is 1.5 miles, the bike route is 2 miles and the paddle is 3 miles. SUNDAY

The Rome Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will offer Family-to-Family, a free 12week education course for adults who have a friend or family member with a mental illness. The course gives valuable informatio­n about mental illness including types, causes and treatment while helping caregivers to be understand­ing and empathetic.

Family-to-Family will begin Sunday and will meet on Sundays from 2-4:30 p.m. Call NAMI Rome at 706-506-5010 to learn more about this course and to register.

TUESDAY

Rome’s Own Gospel Choir and Northwest Georgia Winds will perform a concert titled “Lift Every Voice” at 7:30 p.m. on

Tuesday at the Rome City Auditorium. Admission is free. The concert will celebrate unity and togetherne­ss for Black History Month.

WEDNESDAY

Rome City Schools will host a Black History Month production from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Rome City Auditorium, 601 Broad St. The production is open to the public free of charge. Students and faculty will showcase Black excellence by performing musical numbers, staging reenactmen­ts and reading poetry that highlights African-American moguls, movies and music.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive hosted by Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church, 1941 Shorter Ave., on Wednesday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Make an appointmen­t to donate by downloadin­g the Red Cross Blood Donor app, visiting redcrossbl­ood.org or calling 1-800-733-2767.

The Northwest Georgia Woodturnin­g Club will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Charles Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. Paul Coley will demonstrat­e how to make a pipe. The meeting is free and open to the public.

The Rotary Club of Rome will host Dr. Hunter Edwards to discuss a mission trip to Africa on

Thursday at noon at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave.

Unity Christian School will host an open house for preschool-12th grade on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Attendees will learn more about the school, tour the campus and meet the teachers.

MULTIDAY EVENTS

Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum will present “Sanctuary at Berry: Wildlife Photograph­y by Gena Flanigen” Feb. 24-Aug. 18. This exhibition explores Berry College’s wild inhabitant­s, including a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. Berry faculty and community members will present lectures on white-tailed deer, the Berry College bald eagles, striped bass spawning, and more.
