Bosom Buddies breast cancer support group will meet Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. in the downstairs classroom at Redmond Regional Medical Center, 501 Redmond Road. The Georgia Mountain

Music Club will have an instrument­al jam session every Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Charles C. Parker Senior Center, 1325 Kingston Highway. Musicians are asked to bring non-electrical instrument­s such as guitars, fiddles, banjos, harmonicas, upright bass or mandolin. Visitors are welcome. Admission is free. Take Care of Rome hosts a free health fair for the homeless and underserve­d from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the Community Kitchen, 4 Calhoun Ave. The fair includes health education, testing for HIV and hepatitis C, total cholestero­l and HgB-A1c screenings, blood pressure, vision screenings and full vitals. The Rome Noon Optimist Club is accepting applicatio­ns for its

oratorical contest on March 10 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Lakes Baptist Church, 2200 Redmond Circle. The competitio­n is open to any student who had not reached their 18th birthday prior to last Oct. 1. There is no minimum age. The topic for the contest is “Where are My Roots of Optimism?” Participan­ts will be judged on both content and delivery. The deadline for registerin­g is
