Convicted felon accused of having gun, running from police

A Cedartown man was in jail without bond Saturday night after being accused of running from police to avoid being arrested on outstandin­g warrants and having a gun as a convicted felon. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Jason Shane Hartley, 37, of 55 Debbie Drive, Cedartown, was arrested around 7:27 p.m. Friday after running from police at an Alabama Street residence in Cave Spring. Police found two 9 mm rounds on him. A further investigat­ion led police to find a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber pistol in his possession.

He is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeano­r willful obstructio­n of law enforcemen­t officers. He had no bond on these two charges and was also being held for the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.
