The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will hold its 15th FCA Home Team Celebratio­n on Thursday at the Forum River Center, 301 Tribune St. University of Georgia Football Chaplain Thomas Settles will be the featured speaker. This event creates awareness of ministry outreach and raises funds to support salaries, programs and activities associated with the FCA Rome Area. The Rome Noon Optimist Club is accepting applicatio­ns for its oratorical contest on March 10 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Lakes Baptist Church, 2200 Redmond Circle. The competitio­n is open to any student who had not reached their 18th birthday prior to last Oct. 1. There is no minimum age. The topic for the contest is “Where are My Roots of Optimism?” Participan­ts will be judged on both content and delivery. The deadline for registerin­g is Friday. Third Street Ministries will be giving away clothing to homeless and low-income residents of Floyd County on Saturday in the parking lot of Rome First United Methodist Church, 202 E. First Ave., from noon-4 p.m.
