Task Force nets opioids in residential raids
Members of the joint agency arrest eight following drug buys at three homes in Rome.
The Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force conducted a series of raids Wednesday, arresting Rome residents at three separate homes on felony charges of selling prescription pills.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Mary Nell Duke, 59, of 23 Wingfield St., was arrested on warrants charging her with selling oxycodone — a Schedule II controlled substance — to “a cooperating witness” on Feb. 13 and Feb. 20.
She was additionally charged Wednesday with two counts of possessing a Schedule II drug, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony. She’s also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and was being held without bond.
During the execution of the search warrant, Task Force members also arrested Steve Wayne Duke, 62, and Christie Leigh Duke, 26, and charged them with misdemeanor marijuana possession. Steve Duke also had a glass pipe and grinder and was charged with possession of drugrelated objects. They were both released on bond.
At nearly the same time, the Task Force conducted a search at 4 Pinecrest Drive, Apt. A, and arrested Theresa Marie Livingston Stamey, 45, on a felony warrant accusing her of selling oxycodone on Feb. 22.
Stamey was additionally charged with possession of a Schedule II drug, possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm or knife during a felony. She was being held without bond.
Also arrested at the home, on misdemeanor marijuana charges, were Richard P. Stamey, 42, of the same address; Dustin Henry Salmon, 29, of 3 Berckman Lane; and Daniel Zackry Rucker, 28, of 82 Shade Creek Court in Toccoa.
Richard Stamey was released on bond. Salmon and Rucker were additionally charged with two counts each of possessing a Schedule IV controlled substance and were being held without bond.
Another woman, Laura Padgett Holbrook, 60, of 5 Whitewater Drive, was arrested on a warrant at her home and charged with selling 10 tablets of alprazolam, a Schedule IV drug, to a cooperating witness on Tuesday.
Holbrook was additionally charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and two counts of possession with intent to distribute. She was being held without bond.
