Georgia Highlands College, 5441 Highway 20, Cartersville, will host The Highlands Writers Conference on Saturday. Fullday registration is $55 and includes two writing workshops, a publishing panel, a lunch presentation and a featured reading. Half-day registration in $35 and includes one less writing workshop. An Affair to Remember: The Blues will take place March 9 at the Rome Civic Center from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. There will be food, fellowship and live blues instrumental and vocal performances by local musicians and vocalists. The Berry College Moon Gallery presents “Dark Feet and Dark Wings: On Being a Blind Photographer” by Pinky Bass from March 19 through April 19. An artist talk and reception will open the exhibit on March 19 at 5 p.m. The gallery is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The solo exhibit is built around the question of what it means to “go without sight.” Following a career as a missionary in Mexico and raising a family, she received her MFA from Georgia State University. Her work is supported through numerous grants including the Southern Arts Federation/ National Endowment for the Arts and the Alabama State Arts Council.
The 2018 Leprechaun-athon 5K race will be held March 17 at 7:30 p.m. Runners and walkers should wear green for a chance to win prizes at the pre-race costume contest.
