Humorist Jeanne Robertson to perform at city auditorium

The Rome Symphony Orchestra is bringing American humorist Jeanne Robertson to Rome on March 17.

Known for turning her personal experiences into humorous presentations, and always looking for humor in everyday life, Robertson will regale local audiences with stories about her husband “leftbrain,” and hilarious anecdotes such as: “Don’t Bungee Jump Naked,” “Don’t Send a Man to the Grocery Store” and “Don’t Line Dance in the Ladies Room.”

“Don’t Mess with Teenage Hussies” even references Rome.

Winner of the coveted “Cavett Award” and popular on Sirius XM radio, Robertson’s down-home Southern humor will leave Rome audiences laughing and reflecting on her unique and positive approach to life.

The show, a fundraiser for the Rome Symphony Orchestra, will take place March 17 at the Rome City Auditorium starting at 7 p.m.

Those who’d like to meet Robertson in person can do so at a special “Meet & Greet” before the show at the Seven Hills Fellowship building at 538 Broad St. from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The evening will begin with a special appearance by Memphis R&B vocalist P.J. Harper and Band. To round out the fun, a live auction will be conducted by auctioneer Lynn Dempsey for the autographed Cracker Barrel rocking chair Robertson will use on stage.

Her CDs and DVDs will be available for purchase before and after the show in the auditorium lobby with part of the proceeds to benefit the RSO.

Supporting and attending fun events like this ensures that the symphony can indeed continue its tradition of being the “Oldest Symphony in the South.”

All funds raised from the evening’s ticket sales, CD/ DVD sales and auction will benefit the programming of the Rome Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are $55 for the theater show and $75 for the “Meet & Greet” which includes hors-d’oeuvres, beer and wine, and show ticket. Tickets are available for purchase at B.
