The Berry Singers will have a pre-tour concert at 7:30 p.m. today at the Berry College Chapel, Berry College, 2277 Martha Berry Highway. Works originally conducted by Austrian composer Franz Herzog and American composer Mark Popeney and historic works by Johannes Brahms and Antonin Dvorak will be performed along with folk songs. Berry College Director of Choral Activities Paul Neal will conduct. The event is free and open to the public.

Floyd County CASA will hold a CASA 101 volunteer informatio­n session today from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Oostanaula Room at the Rome-Floyd County Library, 205 Riverside Parkway. The session will include informatio­n about the applicatio­n process, the training and the case support provided to each volunteer. Kiwanis Club of Rome will

host its annual music showcase on March 10 from 1-4 p.m. at Ford Auditorium, Berry College, 2277 Martha Berry Highway. Rome and Floyd County schools students in ninth through 12th grades and home-school students who reside in Rome or Floyd County are eligible to participat­e. Student performanc­es may be vocal or instrument­al. Judges will select the top three performers to receive Kiwanis education scholarshi­ps ranging from $200 to $1,000. Applicatio­n deadline today. Highway, will host preeminent Eudora Welty scholar and 2018 recipient of the Governor’s Award in the Arts and Humanities Pearl McHaney at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a lecture titled “Eudora Welty: Human Rights in Prose and Photograph­y.” The lecture is free and open to the public. McHaney is the editor of a number of books by Welty, a Georgia State University Kenneth M. England Professor of Southern Literature and the featured speaker for the Buzz and Barbara Mote McCoy Southern Women Writers Lecture at Berry.

Program assistance will be available in the Judicial Courthouse, 3 Government Plaza, Suite 114 on Friday from 9 a.m.-noon to assist low-income clients in a range of civil matters including TPOs, public benefits, housing, consumer issues, school suspension­s and unemployme­nt. MULTIDAY EVENTS

Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley is accepting applicatio­ns for the “A Brush with Kindness” program. The program assists homeowners in Floyd County by painting and performing minor repairs on the exterior of their homes. The homeowner repays the cost of the materials and supplies through a no-interest loan. Applicatio­ns may be picked up at the ReStore, 95 Three Rivers Drive. There is a $10 fee for a background check. Homeowners will be required to make a 10-percent down payment on the estimated cost of the project.

Floyd County Juvenile

Court is seeking volunteers to serve as Citizen Review Panel members. After the initial two-day training, this is a once-a-month commitment. Volunteers will meet families with whom the Division of Family and Children Services is involved. The parties go over the case plans to measure progress and make recommenda­tions to the judge. Oak Hill & The Martha

Berry Museum will present “Sanctuary at Berry: Wildlife Photograph­y by Gena Flanigen” through Aug. 18. This exhibition explores Berry College’s wild inhabitant­s, including a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. Berry faculty and community members will present lectures on white-tailed deer, the Berry College bald eagles, striped bass spawning and more.
