Coosa Valley is accepting applicatio­ns for the “A Brush with Kindness” program. The program assists homeowners in Floyd County by painting and performing minor repairs on the exterior of their homes. The homeowner repays the cost of the materials and supplies through a no-interest loan. Applicatio­ns may be picked up at the ReStore, 95 Three Rivers Drive. There is a $10 fee for a background check. Homeowners will be required to make a 10-percent down payment on the estimated cost of the project.

A Benefit Soccer Tournament for Jamie Strong will be held Friday at Grizzard Park. The cost is $20 per player. U10 and U12 registrati­on will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and kickoff at 5:45 p.m. U14 and U16 registrati­on will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and kickoff at 7:15 p.m. Teams will be divided up as soon as registrati­on closes. Each team should play at least two 25-minute GAMES. All the proceeds will go to Jamie Hughes’ family to cover medical expenses. All participan­ts will receive “Jamie Strong” T-shirts. 610 Shorter Ave., is having its semiannual half price sale through March 17. Prices start at $4. The store is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday. Proceeds benefit abused women and their children at Hospitalit­y House for Women.
