Holy Week Calendar
See what local churches have planned for the week leading up to Easter.
Covenant Presbyterian Church EPC, 1645 Cartersville Highway, will hold Sunday School class at 10 a.m. with a lesson on prayer. At 11 a.m. there will be a traditional worship service. The church will hold a Maundy Thursday communion service to commemorate the Last Supper on March 29 at 7 p.m.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3000 Garden Lakes Blvd., will observe Maundy Thursday with Holy Communion on March 29 at 6 p.m. A Good Friday service of Light to Dark will be held March 30 at 6 p.m. On April 1, there will be an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. and a celebration of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m.
Mount Alto Baptist Church, 1915 Huffaker Road, will host “#RESTOREDBYLOVE” on Easter Sunday with the choir presenting special music titled “ALIVE!” For more information call 706232-6222 or visit www.mtalto.com.
Rome First United Methodist Church, 202 E. Third Ave., will have a sunrise celebration on Easter Sunday in the church courtyard at 7 a.m. and a Resurrection celebration will be held in the sanctuary at 11 a.m.
Rush Chapel United Methodist Church, 1225 Rush Chapel Road, will observe Good Friday service March 30 at 7 p.m. There will be an Easter Sunday sunrise service at 7 a.m. followed by worship at 10:55 a.m. including the cantata “Christ Arose.” For more information on additional activities or programs contact the church office at 706-291-7986 or email nick. georgian@ngumc.net.
St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 42 Ash Street, will hold Maundy Thursday services March 29 at 6 p.m. and Good Friday services on March 30 at 6 p.m. Childcare will be provided at both services. Confessions will be available March 31 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. For more information call 706-506-1241.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 911 N. Broad Street, will celebrate a bilingual evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m., followed by Eucharistic Adoration from 8 p.m. to midnight On Holy Thursday. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 101 E. Fourth Ave., will be the host church for this year’s Community Holy Week Services at noon on March 26-28. Following the services a light lunch will be offered in Daniel Hall. For more information call 706-291-9111 or visit www.stpetersrome.org.
Silver Creek Presbyterian Church, 6 Old Rockmart Road, Lindale, will host a community Maundy Thursday worship service and covered dish supper March 29 at 6 p.m. Pastor Dave Grove, Cedartown First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), and Pastor Maryellen Hittle, Rockmart Presbyterian Church (USA), will participate in the service. On Easter Sunday morning there will be a sunrise service on the grounds at 7 a.m. with a pancake and sausage breakfast to follow. Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 304 Coker Drive, will hold Maundy Thursday services March 29 at 6 p.m. Good Friday services will be held March 30 at noon and 6 p.m. Easter Day service will be at 11 a.m. with lunch to follow. Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1941 Shorter Ave., will hold Good Friday Tennebrae service at 7 p.m. A sunrise Easter service will be held outdoors at the church on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. Bring a chair from home.
West Rome United Methodist Church, 1003 Shorter Ave., will celebrate Easter and the Resurrection on April 1 at 11 a.m. The sermon, “Resurrection: Truth or Myth?,” comes from John 20:1-18.
