A 33-year-old Rome woman was pronounced dead early Saturday morning after suffering from multiple injuries in a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Black’s Bluff Road and Ga. Loop 1 late Friday night, according to Floyd County Deputy Coroner Secunda Chandler.

Amber Yother was one of two passengers in a single-cab Ford Ranger which was struck by an SUV at the intersection around 11 p.m. Friday, according to Floyd County police Sgt. Matt Henry. The male driver and a juvenile female passenger in the Ranger were taken to Floyd Medical Center following the wreck and remained in the intensive care unit Saturday afternoon — their names have not been released, Henry continued.

The cause of death for Yother was ruled multitrauma injuries — she had multiple traumatic injuries throughout her body including numerous broken bones — Chandler said. Yother was pronounced dead at Floyd Medical Center at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. It is believed Yother was ejected from the Ranger following impact, Chandler said.

The driver of the SUV, whose name also was not released Saturday, was taken to Redmond Regional Medical Center with minor injuries and has been released, Henry said.

The SUV was traveling on Ga. 1 Loop and the Ranger was approaching from Black’s Bluff Road. The Ranger reportedly pulled out in front of the SUV, Henry said. No charges were filed by Saturday afternoon, as an investigation continued; however, it does not appear the driver of the SUV will be charged, Henry added.

Graveside funeral and interment services for Yother will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1-1:45 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave.
