Mother’s Day card purchases benefit Hospitality House
As Mother’s Day approaches, the Hospitality House is helping area residents send the perfect card to honor and show appreciation for someone.
With a donation of $20 or more, Hospitality House will send a customized greeting card with a handwritten message from the sender, letting the recipient know that a donation has been made on their behalf.
All donations benefit the Hospitality House’s work of providing a safe place for women who are victims of domestic violence and their children. They also provide crisis intervention, legal advocacy, counseling, relocation assistance as well as a variety of other resources to victims.
The Mother’s Day cards are one way for area residents to honor a mother or any other loved one, while supporting Hospitality House.
Each year a different artist’s work is chosen to be the image on the card. This year, artist Mary Ann Askew was chosen. The painting features several bright red roses and greenery arranged in a blue vase.
Inside the card, a passage by poet Robert Frost reads “The rose is a rose and was always a rose. You, of course, are a rose.”
The card also says: A donation has been made in your honor to Hospitality House for Women which provides refuge for victims of domestic violence and their children.”
The deadline to order cards is May 2. To place orders for Mother’s Day greeting cards, email marysibbanks@gmail.com or visit online at www.hospitalityhouseforwomen.org.
Cards can also be purchased at Yellow Door Antiques and Art, 219 N. Fifth Ave., Farrell’s Frame and Design, 116 Broad St., and Hospitality House Thrift Store, 610 Shorter Ave.
