The Moon Gallery, Berry College, 2277 Martha Berry Highway, will host the Annual Student Honors Show Monday through
-May 4. The show features pieces made in the Berry College Art Program. Artist Pinky Bass will speak about her inspirations and announce student award winners at the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Bass’ work has been a part of many collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Birmingham Museum of Art and the High Museum in Atlanta. She is also a frequent workshop leader at Penland School of Crafts and has had her work featured in a range of publications including “Aperture,” “The Polaroid Book” and “The Book of Alternative Processes.” Rome native Lauren Tutt will exhibit artwork inspired by her position as a garden assistant at Oak Hill April 30-May 4. The Atlanta Falcons will hold a free youth football camp for boys and girls ages 6-14 on Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Barron Stadium, 300 W. Third St. Participants will learn proper tackling technique and a variety of football fundamentals through drills led by former Atlanta Falcons players. The Sons of the American Revolution will celebrate their 60th Anniversary Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 20 Myrtle St., by the graveside of principal founder DAR Regent Lenora F. Gordon. After a brief memorial service and wreath presentation the celebration will move to the Palladium building located at the Coosa Vally Fairgrounds, 1400 Martin Luther King Blvd. The meeting and buffet luncheon will begin at noon. The Rome Noon Optimist
Club will hold their Student of the Year banquet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave. The club will recognize outstanding high school students in several categories.

The Coosa River Basin
Initiative is seeking businesses and school, civic and church groups to participate in Rome’s Big Float on
June 2. More than 1,000 people are needed to create a mile-long chain of inner tubes and inflatables. Regular registration is $25, with children 12 and younger floating for free. Group registration rates are available. Participants receive a T-shirt, tube rental and shuttle service to and from the river. Afterwards there will be food, music and games at Heritage Park. Habitat for Humanity
Coosa Valley is accepting applications for the “A Brush with Kindness” program. The program assists homeowners in Floyd County by painting and performing minor repairs on the exterior of their homes. The homeowner repays the cost of the materials and supplies through a no-interest loan. Applications may be picked up at the ReStore, 95 Three Rivers Drive. There is a $10 fee for a background check. Homeowners will be required to make a 10-percent down payment on the estimated cost of the project.
