Man accused of threatenin­g to kill a woman

A Rome man remained in jail without bond Sunday night after being accused of telling a woman, “I am going to kill you.”

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Martin Cisneros Guzman, 44, 600 Redmond Road, Apt. H1, was arrested Saturday around 9:21 p.m. He is charged with felony terroristi­c threats and acts along with misdemeano­r third-degree cruelty to children and simple battery under the Family Violence Act.

He made the threat while two 14-year-olds were in the home.

AC units taken from North Broad building

The owner of a North Broad Street building reported to police someone took two air conditione­rs, valued at a total of $7,000. According to Rome police reports: One of the units was inside the building at 1433 N. Broad St. and the other had been outside. It did not appear anyone had broken into the building.

The owner said he had not been to the building since early this month and he discovered the units had been taken when he returned Friday.

The last person to lease the building had left in March, the owner told police, and he is the only other person who would have a key to the building.

Golf clubs, tools taken from Melody Lane home

A man returned to his Melody Lane home late Friday night to find his garage door open and his golf clubs and tool set taken along with some other items.

According to Rome police reports:

The garage door at the home does not lock, the owner told police. It just has to be raised up by hand to open. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Other items taken were Nike golf shoes and a jump starter. All together the stolen items were valued at $1,200.

Cellphone, checkbook taken from unlocked car

A woman reported to Rome police Saturday morning that someone went inside her unlocked vehicle while it was parked at the post office and took her Samsung Galaxy cellphone and checkbook. According to Rome police reports: The vehicle was parked at the post office at 1420 Martha Berry Highway when the theft occurred around 11:15 a.m. An officer attempted to obtain security footage from the post office but it had closed before he could do so.

The phone was valued at $600 and the checkbook at $25.
