Arsenal teams edge closer to end of season

The YMCA’s Arsenal Rome Select and Academy teams enjoyed the change in weather this past weekend and played a full slate of games. The Select teams split 3-3, while the Academy teams went 3-7-2 against the GA Storm on Saturday and 3-3-1 against Jones Bridge on Sunday.

The G14 C East team went 1-1 over the weekend to bring its season record to 3-1-1. The team shutout UFA Black 3-0 on Saturday before falling to RYSA Lady Revolution Blue 2-0 on Sunday.

Isabelle Phillips and Malone Christen each scored in the first half, while Devyis Reader rounded out the match with a goal in the second half. Christen finished with two assists, and Joey Kunczewski had one. Reader and Ryli Howe combined in goal to earn the shutout with each recording two saves. The B13 II West team improved their record to 8-2 this past weekend with a 5-1 win over PPA. Steven Villatoro scored twice for the Arsenal squad, while Gavyn Williams had a goal on a penalty kick and two assists in the victory. CJ Acas had a goal and an assist, while Maddox Pyle scored a goal and Cedar Perez added an assist. Goalkeeper Will Payne had nine saves.

The B14-III West team lost to top teams SSA Chelsea Smyrna Red 9-0 and Rockdale Revolution Blue 1-0. The B15 Red team beat GSA North Premier 2-0.
