Report: Rome woman threw flaming jacket at man on bed

The 33-year-old is charged with felony arson in the third degree and terroristi­c threats and acts.

A Rome woman was in jail without bond Friday night after being accused of a setting a jacket on fire and throwing it at a man who was lying in bed at their 213 Wilkerson Road home, which she also threatened to burn down.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Dana Marie O’Neal, 33, of 213 Wilkerson Road, was arrested Friday just before 11 a.m. She is charged with felony arson in the third degree and terroristi­c threats and acts along with misdemeano­r battery under the Family Violence Act.

She also hit the man multiple times, leaving scratches and bruises.

AC unit stolen from Lindale home

An air conditione­r valued at $3,500 was taken from a Maple Road home in Lindale which is up for sale sometime over the last week, reports stated.

According to Floyd County police reports:

An employee with Toles, Temple & Wright reported the theft at the Maple Road address on Thursday afternoon. She returned to the residence Thursday for the first time since April 27.

Man charged with felony drugs, weapons

A Rome man is in jail without bond facing a long list of charges for possession of multiple drugs with the intent to distribute.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Demonte C.R. Dawson, 23, of 116 E. 13th St., was arrested at his home Thursday by Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers who, armed with a search warrant, recovered quantities of heroin, methamphet­amine and marijuana as well as other prescripti­on-type controlled substances at the residence.

Officers recovered more than four grams of heroin along with cocaine and marijuana that were packaged for resale. The search team also recovered valium, promethazi­ne and an undisclose­d firearm

Dawson is charged with felonies for possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, traffickin­g in heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance, possession of a Schedule V controlled substance with the intent to distribute related to the promethazi­ne, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, valium, possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of public housing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime along with a misdemeano­r for possession of drugs not in an original container.

He remained in jail without bond Friday night.

Report: Man accused of firing at vehicle

A Lindale man remained in jail without bond Friday night after allegedly firing a shot into a vehicle in the Shannon area.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Justin David Dowdy, 18, of 405 Park Ave., was chasing victims down the road near the intersecti­on of Ga. 53 and Burlington Road Thursday night when he fired a .25 caliber pistol multiple times from his truck.

Reports do not indicate that anyone was hurt and at least one bullet was recovered by police during the investigat­ion.

Dowdy has been charged

with three counts of felony aggravated assault, felony possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and misdemeano­rs for discharge of a firearm near or on the roadway and three counts of reckless conduct.

Chattooga man facing felony battery charge

A Trion man was released from jail on a $11,200 bond Friday after being charged with felony aggravated battery and aggressive driving.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

James Charles Woody, 36, of 2535 Halls Valley Road, turned himself in at the Floyd County Jail Thursday to face the charges that stem from an incident March 30 near the intersecti­on of U.S. 27 North and Ga. 140. He is accused of striking another man in the face, fracturing the victim’s jaw and resulting in facial swelling to the point where the victim could not see.
