Cave Spring Bacon Fest & Car Show takes place at the City Hall campus downtown today from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bacon tasting starts at 10 a.m. Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free.

Third Street Ministries will distribute free clothing to those in need from noon2 p.m. today in the parking lot of Rome First United Methodist Church located between Second Street and Third Street. The Rome African Violet Study

Group will have their annual African violet sale today from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Rome Federated Garden Center, 100 E. Eighth St. Bring a clean pot to have plants potted for you.

Historic Downtown Rome will host the first Downtown Rome today beginning at 9 a.m. There will be visual art, live music, culinary flavors, cultural performanc­es and the inaugural Rome Lantern Parade. The Friends of the Library are offering three silent auctions through today at 4 p.m. Books about the natural world, birds and bird watching, including books about the eagles at Berry, and Christiani­ty, and a book written and signed by Billy Graham, are available.
