Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd will hold a candlelight
memorial service honoring patients and families at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 911 N. Broad St.The event will include a brief word of prayer and music. Harbin Clinic will host Hike
Through History on Friday at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, 20 Myrtle St., from 11 a.m.2 p.m. The event highlights Historic Preservation Month and is planned in conjunction with the Office of Downtown Development and the RomeFloyd Planning Department. The event will feature live music by the Barbaric Yawps and local food trucks. Guided hikes led by local athletic trainer Brian Price will start at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. A Harbin Clinic tent will be set up in the grassy area at the base of Myrtle Hill across from Branham Avenue. Tables will be available for sitting or bring blankets for picnicking. Outdoor games will be in play, including life-size checkers and cornhole. Chieftains Museum/Major
Ridge Home, 501 Riverside Parkway, will present an exhibit on the history of the organization in Rome and Floyd County titled “A Legacy of Service: The Junior Service League of Rome” through May 31. The exhibit includes seven text panels and chronicles the history and achievements of the Junior Service League from its beginning in 1934 through the present-day. and the Rome Art Coterie are sponsoring an art challenge for the 2018 One Table event. Anyone interested in submitting art depicting the message of One Table should contact Nedra Manner in person at Yellow Door Antiques, 219 N. Fifth Ave., or via Facebook. The deadline will be June 1. Winning artwork will become the property of One Community United to use in promotional material for One Table on Sept. 23.
