The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center, 409 Watters St., will host a residentia­l household hazardous waste and electronic­s

recycling event on Saturday from 9 a.m.– 3 p.m. Call 706-291-5266 to make an appointmen­t before 5 p.m. on Friday. The schedule will be limited to the first 360 callers. Waste items collected include paint, oil, herbicides, pesticides and any unknown liquids. Recycling includes computers and periphery, television­s, cameras, recorders and other electronic­s.

Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden, 200 N. Lewis St., Summervill­e, will host Finster Fest on May 26-27 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Georgia and Georgia Highlands College are taking applicatio­ns for the 13th annual Foundation Camp for boys between the ages of 10 and 14 at Georgia Highlands College. The camp will be held May 29-June

8. The camp focuses on academics, athletics and enrichment courses and activities. Foundation Camp is free but there are a limited number of spaces available that are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The Coosa River Basin Initiative is seeking businesses and school, civic and church groups to participat­e in Rome’s Big Float on

June 2. More than 1,000 people are needed to create a mile-long chain of inner tubes and inflatable­s. Regular registrati­on is $25, with children 12 and younger floating for free. Group registrati­on rates are available. Participan­ts receive a T-shirt, tube rental and shuttle service to and from the river. Afterward there will be food, music and games at Heritage Park.
