The Rome Georgia Tech Network is holding their annual Georgia Tech night today at 4 p.m. at State Mutual Stadium, 755 Braves Blvd. Donations will be accepted for the Wesley Johnson Incoming Freshman Scholarshi­p Fund. Floyd Emergency Medical Services will hold a free lifesaving skills class today at 9:30 a.m. at EMS Headquarte­rs, 500 Riverside Parkway. The Calhoun Area Writers will host the second Northwest Georgia Writers Conference today at the Harris Arts Center, 212 S. Wall St., Calhoun. Author Karin Gillespie, who has written for the New York Times, Washington Post and Writer Magazine, will be the keynote speaker. The Rome affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold a community educationa­l meeting Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. featuring a recap of the Georgia Recovery Symposium held in Atlanta last month. Bill Carruthers, a statewide advocate for people with mental illnesses, will talk about living with a mental illness and how to take charge of one’s walk in recovery. The Rome Day Reporting Center Georgia Department of Community Services will hold their 27th commenceme­nt ceremony on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at North Rome Church of God, 1929 N. Broad St. MULTIDAY EVENTS

Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden, 200 N. Lewis St., Summervill­e, will host Finster Fest on May 26-27 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. The festival will feature more than 50 artists, live music and food, a children’s art activity area and tours of Paradise Garden. Admission is $5.
