Police: Man, woman conspired to steal from Walmart
Police arrested a Silver Creek man and an Aragon woman after they reportedly stole $657.64 worth of items from the Walmart on Redmond Circle, reports stated.
According to Rome Police Department and Floyd County Jail reports:
Zachary Ralph Burk, 31, of 929 Jake Whorton Road, and Mary Doris Roberson, 35, of 62 Jones Washington Road, were both arrested Thursday evening.
Burk, who was driving Roberson’s 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 truck, was pulled over near the intersection of Tamassee Lane and Shorter Avenue. He’d reportedly fled, leaving Roberson at the store, after loss prevention officers realized he was shoplifting.
Police found stolen items in the truck as well as items from Hobby Lobby, which they could not verify if they were stolen or not. Police found $43.31 worth of items stolen from Walmart in Roberson’s purse. Burk told police others were also involved in a scheme to steal from the store.
Burk is charged with felony theft by shoplifting as well as misdemeanor driving on an expired tag, driving without insurance, driving on a suspended license and contempt of superior court.
Roberson is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony — which is a felony — and misdemeanor theft by shoplifting and driving without insurance.
Report: Worker voided, stole cash transactions
A woman is accused of using a Subway supervisor’s access code to void 73 cash transactions and pocket $1,075.68, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Monica Leanne Watkins, 31, of 22 Tamassee Lane, is charged with felony computer forgery and 73 counts of theft by taking. Watkins is accused of using a supervisor’s access code on a Subway computer at the store at 3194 Martha Berry Highway to void the transactions as well as falsifying her hours.
Report: Man kicked, bit paramedic treating him
A Rome man reportedly kicked at paramedics attempting to give medical care and bit one of them, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Gary Sean Reeves, 47, of 1349 Redmond Circle, is charged with felony willful interference with emergency medical professional by use of threats or violence and misdemeanor battery.
Rome man charged with meth possession
A Rome man was arrested late Thursday on Rockmart Road and charged with possession of methamphetamine.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Herschel James Waddell, 38, of 307 Alfred Ave., is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug related objects. Police say Waddell had a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue in it.
Report: Witness saw man leaving burglarized home
A witness told police they saw 23-year-old Deltorius Devonte Thompson leaving a home on Little Indian Trial home on June 6 that had been burglarized, reports stated.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Thompson, of 4 Clifford St., is charged with felony burglary. Property valued at $546 was taken in the theft.
Lindale woman charged with drug possession
A 20-year-old Lindale woman was arrested Thursday afternoon on a felony possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance after a traffic stop.
According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Autumn Lashai Ashley, 20, of 6 S. Hillcrest Drive, is also charged with misdemeanor drugs not in original container and possession of marijuana.
