2 charged with meth possession

Two people are charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine after being pulled over on North Broad Street Sunday night by Rome police.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Salina Maria Suits, 41, of 85 Hawkins Road; and James Tommy Turner, 31, of 121 Drummond Drive, both face the felony drug charge as well as misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects and open container violation. Suits is also charged with misdemeano­r driving on a suspended license and a headlight violation.

Police found a glass pipe containing suspected meth residue and both of the vehicle’s occupants had an open alcoholic beverage.

Both were being held on $5,700 bond Monday morning.

Warrant: Man damaged vehicle

A Dallas man faces a felony charge on accusation­s he repeatedly kicked a vehicle on April 8 and caused over $500 in damage, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

David Allen Todd, 49, of 1300 Merchants Drive, is charged with second-degree criminal damage to property. He was released from jail Monday on $3,500 bond.

Woman refused to pay taxi, had drugs

A Summervill­e woman is charged with an additional felony after deputies found four Xanax pills in her purse when she was booked in at the Floyd County Jail, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Tamra Lynn Winn, 27, of 500 Filter Plant Road, is charged with felony possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and crossing a guard line with drugs as well as misdemeano­r theft of service and theft by taking.

Winn stole $169 from a person and then refused to pay $15 for a taxi ride. She is being held without bond on a probation hold.

Burglaries reported Sunday

Thefts were reported at two businesses and one residence this past Sunday.

According to Rome police reports:

A prospectiv­e thief damaged a window at Alteration­s by Theresa at 1705 Martha Berry Blvd. sometime this weekend. The business was ransacked but nothing was taken. The complainan­t estimated it would cost $600 to replace the window.

At some point over the weekend a bus behind a business located at 609 Shorter Ave. was broken into. Tools valued at around $1,000 were stolen.

It didn’t appear that anything was taken during a burglary of a home on the 1000 block of Maple Avenue. At some point between June 1 and Saturday someone broke open the back door and ransacked the place.
