A Georgia Power contractor will close Horseleg Creek Road to throughtra­ffic on Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon to remove a dead tree. Work will be taking place near 1711 Horseleg Creek Road and Huntington Road. Residents who live beyond the point of closure will be able to access Horseleg Creek Road via the West Rome Bypass.

The Ridge Ferry Park Farmers’ Market continues through Oct. 17. The market will be closed July 4 and 7, and Aug. 25. The hours are 7 to 11 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Ridge Ferry Park Farmers’ Market Pavilion

Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum will present “Sanctuary at Berry: Wildlife Photograph­y by Gena Flanigen” through Aug. 18. This exhibition explores Berry College’s wild inhabitant­s, including a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles. Berry faculty and community members will present lectures on white-tailed deer, the Berry College bald eagles, striped bass spawning and more. Habitat for Humanity Coosa Valley is accepting applicatio­ns for the “A Brush with Kindness” program. The program assists homeowners in Floyd County by painting and performing minor repairs on the exterior of their homes. Applicatio­ns may be picked up at the ReStore, 95 Three Rivers Drive. There is a $10 fee for a background check. Homeowners will be required to make a 10-percent down payment on the estimated cost of the project.

Blood Assurance is seeking O negative blood donations. To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 18 years old (16 and 17 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Floyd County Superior Court Clerk Barbara H. Penson requests that veterans of all military branches of service be sure their DD-214 discharge is recorded at the courthouse. Veterans may record their DD-214 in Floyd County in addition to their hometown, county or state. Bring a DD-214 to the Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, 3 Government Plaza, Suite 101, to have it recorded for Floyd County. This is a free service for all veterans.

The Rome-Floyd NAACP will hold their annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at the Rome First United Methodist Church Garnett M. Wilder Center, 202 E. Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden, 200 N. Lewis St., Summervill­e, will host Paradise Garden Art Camp July 9-13. A morning session for ages 7-13 will be held from 9:30 a.m.-noon daily and an afternoon session for ages 10-13 will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. daily. Run for the Fallen, a 6,000-mile run across the United States honoring men and women in the military who died while serving or as a result of serving since 12 October 2000 during the War on Terror, will enter Rome via GA-20 on July 10 and is in need of runners, meals, water and lodging or parking for two motor homes. Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home, the Rome-Floyd ECO Center and the Rome Braves will host River Quest on July 14 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. River Quest is a unique one-day program that allows participan­ts to learn about river ecology and local history by completing a scavenger hunt booklet at both Chieftains Museum and the Rome-Floyd ECO Center, allowing them to receive a voucher good for two free Rome Braves tickets and a chance to win a door prize.
