The Model Ruritan Club will hold their annual barbecue and Brunswick stew sale on July 4 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Shannon Scout Hut, 40 Minshew Road, Shannon. The sale includes barbecue plates with sides for $7, barbecue sandwiches for $3, barbecued meat by the pound for $8, Brunswick stew by the bowl for $3, pint for $5, quart for $8 or gallon for $28. The Friendly River Homemaker Club will be offering homemade desserts including cakes, dessert cups and pies from $1.50-$25.

The 33rd annual Cave Spring Independen­ce Day parade will be held July 4 at 9 a.m. in downtown Cave Spring. Line up will be from 8-9 a.m. All vehicles, floats with wheels and horses line up on Perry Farm Road. Those wishing to walk in the parade should assemble at Joe Hill’s Lawn Mower Shop, 23 Alabama St. Cave Spring United Methodist Church will be selling homemade ice cream.
