Margaret Fischer Bourne
Mrs. Margaret Fischer Bourne, age 78, of Rome, Ga., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 2, 2018.
Mrs. Bourne was born in Karlsbad, Germany on April 9, 1940, a daughter of the late Franz Josef Fischer and Emilie Fischer. She met her future husband, George Albert Bourne Sr., while he was stationed in Germany in the United States Army. Mrs. Bourne was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She worked for over 25 years with the Floyd Training and Service Center. Mrs. Bourne’s passions included caring for her children, grandchildren, and family. She also had a love for animals, especially hummingbirds, and enjoyed working in her flower garden. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bourne was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, George Albert Bourne Sr., and a grandson, George Albert Bourne III.
Mrs. Bourne is survived by a daughter and son-inlaw, Dorothy and W.C. Dunaway, of Armuchee, Ga.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Norbert Bourne, and George Albert Bourne Jr., and his wife, Stephanie, all of Rome; grandchildren, Ashley (Hollis) Rish, Jessica (Michael) Sherrit, Jennifer Dunaway, L.A, (Rachael) Dunaway, and Deedra Bourne (Jon Reyes, fiancé); sister, Hildegard Blieninger of Vilsbiburg, Germany. Several nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bourne will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Clonts officiating. Interment will follow in the Morning View Cemetery.
Mrs. Bourne’s family will receive friends on Friday at Salmon Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
Mrs. Bourne’s family would love to extend special thanks to Teresa Lamaster of Prime Care Nursing and Jerrie McDougle, RN of Heyman Hospice Care at Floyd for their loving and compassionate care.

Mr. Foster Hugh Selman, Sr. Lt. Col. (Ret.) US Air Force, age 89, of Texas Valley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2018, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Daniel’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at New Armuchee Baptist Church.
