The Ridge Ferry Park Farmers’ Market continues through Oct. 17. The market will be closed Aug. 25. The hours are 7-11 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Ridge Ferry Park Farmers’ Market Pavilion.

The Floyd County Democratic Party will meet Thursday in the Community Room at the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority, 560 N. Division St. Two delegates and two alternates will be elected for the state convention on Aug. 25. To qualify as a delegate you must be a registered voter in Floyd County, a Democrat, available to attend the convention and willing to support the Democratic nominees. Updates will be given on local campaign headquarte­rs and the Georgia Giants dinner. Chairperso­n of the Democratic Committee of Paulding County Lukis Newborn will be speaking.

Chieftains Museum/ Major Ridge Home will host the annual Chieftains Low Country Boil & Barbecue at 7 p.m. on Aug. 3 at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive. The event will feature an open bar and all-you-can-eat buffet, live auction and potted-plant centerpiec­es available for sale. Raffle tickets for a $500 cash drawing are available for $20 each at the museum or at the event. Event tickets are $75 for individual­s, $600 for a table for eight, and $750 for a table for 10. The Visitors Center at Howard Finster’s Paradise Garden will have artwork on display by Summervill­e’s Donnie Davis through Sept. 1. Davis’ current collection is comprised of a series of paintings depicting various scenes in and around Paradise Garden. Davis teaches painting classes for adults at Paradise Garden. Take Care of Rome hosts a free health fair for the homeless and underserve­d from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the Community Kitchen, 4 Calhoun Ave. The fair includes health education, testing for HIV and hepatitis C, total cholestero­l and HgB-A1c screenings, blood
